Digital media players

Digital media players, media hubs, or media adapters allow you to view or listen to digital media from your computer on your home entertainment center. Functionality and design varies among devices, but there are two basic types. One type connects to your network and allows you to upload all your video and audio files to the unit. You then play back using the media player whenever you like.

The second type interfaces with your home entertainment center and network and allows you to stream media to your entertainment center using the media player. This type of device doesn't store your audio or video files; it just acts as your computer's interface with your entertainment center .The second type of unit is more flexible: You can have all your music and photos in a central place (your computer), and broadcast it to media players in different rooms. Many media players have a wireless remote, and you can browse and select your music and picture files on your TV screen.
