Canon PowerShot SD550

Came out six months after its predecessor, Canon PowerShot SD550 does not give away any signs of improvement by looking at its physical structure. It still takes the “Perpetual curve” design that was first taken by Canon PowerShot SD500, its predecessor. There is also not much of a difference in the amount of shots obtained from both compact digital cameras from a single battery charge. But the Canon PowerShot SD550 gets the upper hand when users switch to its optical viewfinder and by occasionally using the LCD display to merely review pictures now and then. It can take up to 550 shots which is three times more than with its LCD display turned on.

Another slight alteration from its predecessor is a more powerful flash than any other IXUS line cameras. There are five flash modes to choose from and its flash range is 1.6 to 16.4ft at the wide end of the zoom and 1.6 to 9.8ft at the long end. The flash can also be used in the macro mode.

If you want to stretch your creative expression through your images, you can very well choose from 15 shooting modes and a special scene mode equipped in the Canon PowerShot SD550. You have free access to effects and control depending on the situation and the emphasis you give to your subject. You can also tweak your images with the “touch up” color function. Lighten, darken, brighten, or even change your subjects color. All these can be done straight from your LCD display in real time.
