Canon PowerShot G6 is narrower than its predecessor, Canon PowerShot G5. It also has upgraded 2.0 million output pixel counts higher. Carrying an ergonomic design in silver, it is made of magnesium alloy and has a rubber laden grip handle that complements the finger hook below the shutter release for a more comfortable hold position. Powered by a specially made Canon battery pack snugly placed in a compartment below the hand grip. When charging, battery is removed. It was also tested to have excellent battery life.
The Canon PowerShot G6 has 12 shooting modes catering to any situation. And just like any Canon G series, it has a flip-out and twist color LCD that displays a clear preview of any RAW or JPEG recording done in 2x to 10x magnification playback. The display can also be hidden from view when not in used or maneuvered in any angle you desire to get the precise moment in every click. Also, a mirror image is automatically shown in the display making self portraits easy. Made as a shooting priority camera, Canon PowerShot G6 can easily be switched to record mode from play mode with mere half-pressed shutter release.
As tested, the Canon PowerShot G6 has lived to giving quality pictures. But, the possibilities can still be expanded by its ability to complement a wide range of photographic accessories anyone can avail. Example is Canon’s extensive EX series Speedlite flash units that is easily slid to its fully wired E-TTL hot-shoe mounted on top of the camera. With this advantage, it promotes possibilities for greater creativity.
