One of the obvious improvements similar to the A80 model is the 4x zoom of A520's. Another feature of this PowerShot is the timer which can be adjusted that allows you to set a delay in the shutter from up to 10 sec., and you can get to program the shots to be taken within or up to 10 shots. Powershot A520 also features a CCD in 4 megapixel quality resolutions of as high as 2,272 x 1,704 pixels, and can be enlarged or printed to 11x14 inches complete with great details.
One of the key features includes the exposure control in full control or manual partial mode, an Ai AF nine points system, and external media SD/MMC card storage. The A520's two-toned, all-plastic body which comes in silver is compact and light; it is bigger than the average size pockets. Still, A520 could easily slip into coat pockets, totes, and purses. A wrist strap is also available for a more secured shooting experience.
Canon A520 features a cover similar to a shutter lens and to many Canon SLR cameras, and a retractable lens to keep the camera upfront when the digital camera is turned off.
The A520 is devised with a lens from 5.8 to 23.2mm and offers an optical range zoom of 35mm and up to 140mm lens. Aperture f/2.6 and f/8 ranges are dependent on the zoom configuration settings that are automatically or may be manually adjusted.
The digital A520 also uses Canon's Ai auto focus system uses the focus of the 9-point center area frame.
